Instead of complaining about illegal downloading, why don't record

companies make legally downloading easier? I just posted this somewhere else too, but I'd like some opinions on my plan. Instead of B**ching about how everyone is downloading music illegally, why don't record companies just make legal downloads easier?

Problem: If I want 1 song off of a CD I don't wanna pay $20+ for a CD for that ONE song, also I don't have a credit, debt, or any other card. Why the heck would I want to risk having it stolen and ruining my finances just so I can use iTunes? Gift cards expire, I don't download music often so I see no reason for buying a $20 gift card so I can buy 1 or 2 songs. I end up waiting for days until I find someone who'll let me use their credit card to buy music, but most people just download music illegally. This causes artists and record companies to loose the money they (the artists) worked for!

The Solution: MAKE IT EASY! Instead of "record stores" pull a redbox! Start a chain of stores (putting them in Walmart would be a good start) Where you bring a CD or USB cord and download your music from a giant multi user computer hooked to iTunes, insert a dollar per song, or 50 cents for old songs. put your music on the CD, take it home to your laptop/computer, and burn it on there! Labels will get their money, people will have that warm fuzzy feeling from doing the right thing, and no more mothers of 4 will be paying over a million dollars for illegally downloading 24 songs. With the profits from more people downloading legally, these stores would pay for themselves in no time.

Do any of you think that this would work? If yes, why hasn't it been done? if no, why not? and what are your thoughts on solving this problem? I don't wanna see Evanescence, RED, or Paramore getting ripped off anymore either. But heck Evanescence has even said "hey, we don't care, download the old stuff, just PLEASE buy the new stuff" or something like that.
