Installing subwoofer soon. Should I amplify the back speakers or not?

I recently installed 6.5" Pioneer TS-D602P (60W RMS) speakers in the back and I'm wondering if I should amplify them not. They're currently ran from the headunit (22W RMS)

That 38W difference would cost me about 150$ (amp and extra wiring)
They play fine now, though there's barely any bass, and the bass distorts at higher volumes so I have to use the high-pass filter on the headunit to remove the bass.

I will be installing a subwoofer within the next few days and am wondering if it's worth to amplify the back speakers or leave them as they are and just install the sub.

to me it sounds like you should make the most of your current system before adding something like a sub woofer.
if ur speakers cant play bass atm, then you probably should amp them up or buy something new.
and when you say distortion, is it speaker distortion or just vibration caused by the speaker.
you might wanna invest in dynamat before you start spending money on the sub.

if your going to add the sub into the system on non amped speakers, your sub will overwhelm you, with relitively no low frequencies, personally id amp them first.
but in the end, its all what sounds good to you!

for proper sound quality, rear speakers are not needed. you should have a good, high quality, front stage. (when your at a concert, the sound is in front of you...right?) the rear, if used at all, should only be considered rear fill and usually running them off the HU is fine.
