Installing new alert sounds????

Hello all

(Searched for an answer without success - hense the new thread)

I'm bored with the limited standard alert sounds in OS5 accessible for alarms and reminders in PIM apps and MegaClock etc.

I need some alternatives to Bird, Alert and Concerto etc - nothing too musical, just a few extra beeps etc.

However, I've tried copying over a few alternative formats which just dont show-up when I try to select via the app.

Does anyone know if it's (a) possible? and (b) what format and where to put the file?

Any tips appreciated - many thanks

TH

A good update on Geek Sounds, and it works just fine on an m100!

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

By the way ,I USE IT DAILY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS WITH EMERALD SOUNDS ON TT AND TT3

Be careful with EmeraldSounds. It seems the developer has added non-OS 5 MIDI sounds to this package and it has caused problems with some OS 5 machines.

Yeah,

I see someone posted that this works on their Palm OS 4 device ............... I had problems before on my Palm OS 4.1 m515 device. Can anyone confirm that the developer has made this work for any Palm OS 4 device?

Thanks,

Syno

Why not just add your own MIDI alarms? You can do it with PalmMIDI. You have to make sure whatever MIDI files you're installing are Type 0 (NOT Type 1 or 2). If you can't find what you want in a Type 0, then use the MIDI File Converter to convert it -- it does a pretty good job, but sometimes doesn't handle multiple instruments in a complicated MIDI file properly. All these are fairly old apps, but they work well for adding custom alarms on my T2. All the software is run on the desktop computer, and then you just transfer the PDB file over to your Palm. I've attached the two programs. Documentation is minimal, but it's not too difficult to figure out. The two EXE's in the MIDI File Converter are installation EXE -- they'll tell you with a pop-up window what they're about to do, giving you a chance to confirm it or cancel.

Have fun!
