I received my lowering kit in todays mail. I have my EGS on the jack.

It looks like the brackets install with the knob toward the wheel and the holes toward the rear of the bike.

But Im not 100% sure.

Does the lowering kit work by moving the lower shock attachment bolt furthur to the rear?

If anyone has a pic that would be great. I did a search but all the photos have been removed.

3" 2" 1" closest to the seat,

You will rub the fender on the last hole near your exhaust tip. Middle is ify, I took mine off after I lifted my back tire off the ground in a turn and damaged my exhaust. It scared the shit out of me. The bike was to low and bottomed out.

not sure what brand of lowering kit you have. I would call the manufactor with qestions to be sure. Yes, the mounting hole sholud be to the rear of the bike. This changes the angle of the shock and shortens the length. Also be careful, you may need to shim the shocks to prevent them from rubbing on your bags and also to prevent to much side loading on the shock eyelets. Like I said in the start, I would make a call to make sure.

Questions:

The kit came with longer bolts for the top. Why? The lower mount is about 1/8in further out (width of the bracket). If the top needs longer bolts it seems like I should have had a 1/8in spacer to shim the top of the shock out the same distance as the bottom.

The bike doesnt seem lower, I wonder if I installed them on the wrong side and upside down. The lower shock mount is back and up from the orginial mount. I think that if I flip the brackets over and swap sides the mount will be back and lower.

This is a 1 or 2in lowering kit I bought off ebay seller hellbend. After reading here I decided that the kits that lower up to 3in are useless on our bikes so I saved $5 and skipped the 3in option.

Thanks all, I installed them correctly the first time. Im not worried about the tire hitting the fender as much as I am that the crossover pipe is now pretty close to the ground.

We are going for a ride this evening so I will get a chance to check everything out on the road.
