"Installing" Everytime My Phone Boots? - N95-2

I have a Nokia N95-2 8gb. I have a bunch of apps installed, and never had an issue. Recently however, everytime my phone turns on, or if I use "Mass Storage" mode and disconnect my USB from my computer, it always says "Installing" like it is trying to install from the memory card. It eventually errors out.

I have no .sis files on the root of my E: drive. I have checked my App Manager and nothing says "Not Installed" so I would think nothing is stuck in my installation que.

Is there anything I can check for? I'd hate to have to re-format my phone

Thanks alot for any help.

Wirelessly posted (N82: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN82/30.0.019; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

i get the same problem man. I hard reset my phone n reinstalled everything one at a time. Come to find out that its one of my themes installed that was causing my error. I'd bet good money that its a program u installed recently

This used to happen to me for about a month until I uninstalled a the last 5 apps I had installed and re-installed them. Turns out that the problem was one of the apps I had installed was set to Auto-Start but for one reason or another, the initial install wasn't completed correctly so every time the app started on boot up, it would try to install itself. If I launched it from the menu, all was fine. Try removing your autostart apps and reinstalling.

I also experienced the same problem since I put some themes to my phone. But what is weird is after I uninstalled themes, the problem still occured. Anyone know why?

This sometimes happen after a failed install or incompatible application (or theme).

You can sometimes fix this by going to the App Manager and you should see an Uninstalled app in there, just delete it from there and see if that fixes the problem.

Other thing you can do is to uninstall the last few themes you installed (if that's the case) and reboot.

There's a last resort solution that you should try only if the above didn't work. You need a file manager like X-Plore or if you prefer (obviously this cannot be done on the N95 8GB) you can take out your memory card and use your PC to read the contents (you should configure your file browser to display hidden/system files) and then navigate to e:\Private\10202DCE and delete the .sis files in there.

That's how I fixed mine every time this "Install at reboot" problem happens.

PS.- If you feel uncomfortable deleting the files, just copy them over to some temp folder and try it.

first of all, always install themes to phone memory, never memory card. my opinion is to do the same with all apps. the only thing i can think is if you have garmin installed, it goes on the memory card. so maybe garmin tries to reinstall each time...?

This occurs with applications - Total Recall is one such that does this error if installed on the memory card. I've installed ALL my apps if giving the choice to the card - because I'd rather the storage for apps like Nokia Email Beta or such to use that storage.

However I think this causes the caveat. Themes I've installed on the card, after full format of my E71 last night still show up and I can use them when the mem.card is back in the phone.
