Install to Nokia N97

What Iceberg said.

But... you'd need a lot of knowhow, a lot of time on your hands, and probably a bunch of Nokia N97s to brick in the process.

The biggest problem would be writing your own drivers for all of the Nokia N97 hardware - CPU, Screen, Sound, Memory access, storage access, input devices (keys, buttons, touch screen), cameras, sound input, etc etc. Nokia aren't going to do this unless they intend to use Android, so it would be up to the public.

Then, assuming the N97 has enough ROM storage, after a lot of testing and ironing out the bugs and coding fixes yourself, you might get it working!

yer im with Iceberg and extorian anything is possible with a bit of work im more then happy and welling to help it will be like writing windows xp for psp all over agen now on the subject of rom space, now this may sound weird because the nokia has like a c:\ and a e:\ drives c:\ is only 74mb and e:\ is 32gb so couldn't we just format the rom and c:\ together in one panther its just storage right? and if that cant be done then could we just put a verey streped down ver of the boot room and other software to just get it booted in the ROM then any other softer not need for booting sits on the c:\ it may take a wile to boot but how often do you tern of you phone.

now drivers are probable going to be hard but do-able for lack of a better word my 1st port of call would be to try to rip them out of a symbian OS applications development kit (http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/S60_3rd_Edition:_Application_Development). because in there somewhere there should be drivers for the app you made so the app knows what buttons your pushing and what to do with the imports. i thing that would be easy then hacking them out of nokia's dev server but could be done i guess

now the 3ed thing that killed me on the psp was hardware the lack of it, i don't know if a
ARM 11 434MHz processor and 128mb of ram is anuf to even run android let alown do anything

well thats abort it i thing if we can cover thoes 3 thing the lets do this thing!

If this were possible, I would be quite happy. I myself have a jailbroken iPhone, but my friend has an N97 and he is very unhappy with it. I was hoping to be able to put Android on it.
