i got this free Emerson stereo from a friend:

the cd player's motor is burnt out and the only thing that works is the radio and even the anttena is broke off of that so i cant get good reception where i live. but, the longer i look at, it the more i looks like an iHome for iPod to me.
so the question is, is there any way i can solder a 3.5mm jack into the system or connect the jack into the existing CD player leads? if i can do this successfully i will be crudely installing one of these under the CD lid because it has a 3.5mm line out jack:
