Install a bench seat on a 2008 Chevrolet Impala and move shifter?

I have a 2008 Impala LS and I would really love to have a bench seat. I already have the reg shifter and I'm wondering if I can take off that shifter and move it to the shifting column next to the steering wheel so I can put a bench seat instead. Can I move the shifter? and can I put a bench seat?
 
It can be done but you are looking at spending a lot of money to have a car converted this way. In the end you would be better served to search out a car that already has a column shifter.
