insomnia?

Ugh! I'm an insane insomniac. I stay up until 1-3 in the morning then wake up at six. I end up catching a wink at lunch or when I get home. Anybody have this problem? I know there's an obvious answer, "go to sleep". It's 1:10 am and I'm gonna go to bed early tonight . But has anybody ever got past insomnia? Even when I'm trying to sleep, I'm thinking about everything... from philosophy, to women.

I don't want to take sleeping pills, thats the dumb way out. After 3pm, I'm either not tired or I really really am. It depends on the day. It's not hurting my life or anything, it's just a major annoyance when I have to get up. I spend time daydreaming about it when I don't have to get up at six.

You don't have insomnia. I have insomnia. I cannot sleep. I am dead beat tired, and I probably won't sleep tonight. Tomorrow will be a haze of events, and I'll struggle to function normally.

No no, you do not have insomnia.

You have trouble taking your mind off of tits at night ("philosophy to wemon"), and how to best persuade that face into allowing you to touch them, or whatever younger kids do these days. You need to learn how to relax your mind when you sleep, as well as your body.

I hope some mod stomps your ass for not being able to type anything worthwhile or coherent. It really pisses me off that your restless ass might actually devlop something medically diagnosable : Hypochondria or Chronic Masturbation.

And this might as well be B&T with the state of his brain.

Actually, Skelter, I see it more along the lines of the fact he probably habitually stays up late and the few times he tries to earlier his body isn't ready yet. Keeping when you fall asleep regular really will improve your ability to fall asleep.

There, a little editing on my part to make this more readable for others. I made bold the couple of words that I added. Saxx, we don't fully expect you to make all your posts look EXACTLY like this. But it would be better for your future here at WTF if you began capitalizing the beginning of your sentences, and if you... quit... doing this... every... other fucking... word... understand? Proper diction and grammar go a long way here. Now on to my response.

Skelter there ARE many different forms of insomnia, but I agree in the fact that this may not be his problem. Now onto the thread starter.

It's obvious that you're young. When you're going through your teenage years, your body will tend to fluxuate (sp?) through many different sleep patterns. Stress can be a key factor in this. Tests at school, bullshit at work, trials and tribulations with a girlfriend, lack OF a girlfriend, etc. The list can go on and on. However, if this has been a normal pattern of sleep for you for over say the last year or more (and I mean completely habitual as to where you haven't gotten more regular nights of sleep than you could count on both hands), then I would consider this a somewhat valid case of insomnia.

Unfortunately, the only real recourse for a real insomniac is medical intervention. This was the road that I eventually had to go down. You could try different herbal remedies... but if you do go down this road be forewarned, I suggest going to a professional herbalist. I learned the hard way and had followed the suggestion of someone that wasn't that knowledgeable, and they gave me something which I later found out didn't do shit for sleep, but was actually a booster for sexual health in the libido area.

IF you are actually experiencing insomnia, then you actually have what's known as a mild case. I don't know how bad Skelters is, but mine was classified as severe. Recently in the last few weeks, I've been having a return of my insomnia after 7 years of no problems. It sucks because in my case what happens is I'll stay up endlessly for 4 to 5 days in a row, feeling wide awake. Then finally on the 4th or 5th day, my body will wear out and I'll crash. I won't get the fully recuperative sleep that one needs though. I'll sleep through anywhere from 6 to 8 hours, and then I'm fully awake again for another 4 to 5 days. I hope you can find the help you need. In my case it tends to be anxiety linked I guess, as Xanax (anti-anxiety drug), is the only medicine that I've taken that actually helps me sleep when I go through this.

And on another note, just as a small way to combat this. Quit taking naps at lunch time and push yourself through the day... that can help a little bit at least.

Sorry about my bad grammar, i will try to improve.

Oh and by the way, im not what you call a deep person but i try to let my mind venture further out than just chicks. Mastrabation is nice and all and i admit i do it every few days but i really do think about philosophy ive read books by plato and tzu sun.

Im not trying to brag or anything.
I just dont want to come out like a shallow idiot XD

Depending on the strain, that helps tremendously. Sometimes though, when I'm baked, I can't STOP thinking of insane theories on how the world works and came to be.

I have a very difficult time falling to sleep without smoking a bowl first.

Maybe try exercising during the day. You will be tired when "bed-time" rolls around.

I never had sleeping problems, but here's what I'd do; I'd try to wear myself out, practising physical activities such as running or any other form of exercise.
From my logic, I deduce that the physiologic need to recover your strength could just triumph over whatever conscious or unconscious sleep-disturbers in your drowsy head.

Weekends have a lot to do with it. I find myself going to bed late and waking up early, just because my body was trained to wake up at that time from the previous week, but then it gets reset again for next week.

Try jacking off.

Assuming you don't have a medical problem that is thwarting your need for sleep, there are various methods for relaxation that could help. For example:

  • Exercise (even a walk around the neighborhood) can relieve some of that nervous energy.
  • Take a warm shower or bath to get rid of the muscle kinks and aches.
  • Listen to some soft music, like jazz or classical, to soothe the soul.
  • Try listening to a book on tape or CD as you're getting ready to sleep. (The trick here is not to choose something terribly interesting, or you'll end up staying awake to hear the end of the story.)
  • Practice relaxation exercises while you're lying in bed. They even have tapes (or CDs) that try to talk you to sleep.

As others have said, having a regular routine helps get your body rhythms in sync, but that's not always possible. Get rid of any distractions and find what method works best for you. Good luck.

I had the same problem and it led me to sleep twice a day for short periods of time. Try going to bed for 2-4 hours when you get off from work/school. Then go to bed again a couple hours after you wake up for 2-4 hours.

i use to have insomnia in highschool because of the anxiety i suffered with family problems. try relaxing... watch some tv, ignore the internet and lay down the same time every night, something reasonable. put yourself on a schedule and let your body adjust. may take some time though. you could also try something as silly as counting sheep or even meditating. also consider using some of those get to sleep cds. ive listened to a few. its possible they work for you.

good luck going to bed

music actually interrupts your sleep so make sure it goes off by itself after you fall asleep. i cant understand those people that fall asleep with the tv on. i need silence. ive always had trouble sleeping.

maybe a few hours before bed but exercising directly before bed is not good. it wakes you up more. you need to make the body relax not do flips

I've never had music wake me up or interrupt my sleep. It might affect my dreams, but that's about it. Even having my alarm set to play music won't wake me up.

Same with exercise. It doesn't wake me up, but it does make it easier to relax afterwards. Who said anything about flips? I think she mentioned going for a walk, which is a great way to generate endorphins, burn off energy, and calm your mind.
