injured hand from doing CPR

I work as a nurse & had to perform CPR on a patient. The day after my index finger metacarpal is hard to open and close my hand, hurts when i bend my finger down, appears puffy and raised. Ive been icing it, but Im afraid of long term effects. Is this a fracture or just swollen tendons around it? Should I file an incident report on myself?

Now that is a good question!

I would lean in the direction of *yes* do file an incident report and of
course as you surely know, get a doctors appt in place right away also,
in case you need to parallel that with your incident report. (imo)

Yes, report it. It may get better on its own; but if it doesn't, you definitely want it to have been documented.

You're always supposed to report no matter how minor...If your finger keeps hurting several days after the incident I would then worry, but I doubt very much that it is broken (unless you are osteoperotic).
