Forgive me if this has been asked before - searching this section didn't provide a clear answer.
Does anyone know if injections for discs, facets, and joints contain epinephrine to keep the local from absorbing too quickly?

Some (but not all) of the epidural injections use epinephrine as a nurabing agent. You would definitely want to ask the doctor about it beforehand if this is a concern.

I suspected as much since the local anesthetic would need to stay in place for a while.
Past experience with epi during dental procedures suggests it wouldn't be good for me to have it in higher amounts... it leaves my heart racing for hours and makes me very symptomatic. At best that would be the result from a joint injection, too. Worst case scenario - my heart rate clirabs too high, I loose consciousness at which point blood pressure and heart rate bottom out... add that to possiblity of vasodilation from the anesthetic. :(

It may upset the doctor wanting me to get them, but I don't believe I'm going to go down this road yet and especially not just for what would be primarily a diagnostic injection. I want to further discuss the subject with my cardiologist first.

I've had a few epidurals and it didn't really do much for my back. The last proceedure the fluid started leaking. When I called the Pain Mgmnt. clinic to set another appt., they said they couldn't due to non-payment from the Insurance Co.. According to what I've found out since, is that they were supposed to draw a vile of blood first so it could be inserted near the epidural injection. The PM people had the nerve to put the blame elsewhere. Overall even the Trigger-point injections didn't help much either on my cervical spine. Hope you find the right relief!

I also have problems with epi. Whenever I am having an injection...I remind the nurse & the doctor when I get to the office for the procedure that I cannot have it in any form. They can use something else.
