Inglourious Basterds - glourious return of Tarantino

I saw it last night.. really enjoyed it.. the final scene in the cinema is very well done i think... I really enjoyed the whole film!! And urge everyone to see it.. even though i know it will probably get alot of stick ... I really thought Brad Pitt would have a 'bigger' part. He was in it, but not as much as I thought..
 
Went to see this yesterday and I loved it.

My favourite film of the year so far. I didn't think I'd enjoy it but it ticked all the right boxes for me.

Definetly getting it on DVD when it is out.
 
I'm really looking forward to it. I want him to do well and have a film that everyone loves again but you just never know. I personally liked Death Proof but i have much more excitement for this film than i did for that and i'm a HUGE fan of the old grindhouse movies and horror movies in general.

SounRAB like this film is a bit of a Marmite....

Had all the Tarantino touches. Lotsa prolonged dialogue scenes interspersed with hyper violence....

The revisionsist history ending was LOL!

Its a match made in heaven- Tarantino+ Nazism...:D
 
Just come back from a late screening of this, and my gut reaction is "disappointing".
I can appreciate the films intricacies, but if the studios hadnt marketed it as a violent, nazi-killing spree (which is what I was expecting from Tarantino), maybe I would have been more receptive.
The trailor even features an ENTIRE flashback scene, and Brad Pitt argueing with hitler.
The latter doesn't happen, it's just spliced that way to whet the audience appetite.in fact i don't recall Pitts dialogue even being included in the final cut.

GOOD film? YES.
What I was expecting? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

WILL I be watching my m8s dodgy bootleg copy? erm, probably not!
 
Watched this last night & I gotta say that I 100% agree with you. As soon as I heard about this flick, I thought about time & it was well worth the money spent.

Well done Tarantino for doing something that everyone would be proud of...... Putting Nazi scum through hell :D
 
I actually liked all the long talky bits (with lots and lots of subtitles) where the tension of the scene slowly increased, but then invariably there had to be some over the top violence :eek: at the end that kinda ruined all the good work.:rolleyes:

I just think there were too many sudden changes of pace and despite some great acting from Kruger and Waltz I just can't see myself watching it again. Lol at Brad Pitt and the BasterRAB who had very little screen time and really didn't need to be in the film at all, but hey that's marketing for you.

If you liked the film Black Book, then see this.
If you like Brad Pitt, don't bother seeing it.
If you like Tarantino, see it but don't expect a Jackie Brown.
 
exactly - where would the tension have come from in the opening scene and the scene in the bar without all the dialogue.

brilliant cinema.

I'm not a Tarantina fan, well, except for Kill Bill 1 + 2 and after reading some of the comments here yesterday I wasn't sure whether to bother... I'm glad I did!

Genius! It's not often I say that but thinking back on the film and the way it was put together - not many Directors could do that and get away with it.

Definitely in my Top 10 of 2009 so far. 9/10
 
I loved the film, enough said.

But this is the only film i can think of where i actually wanted it to be even longer. I sat there thinking "I hope this doesnt end". I hope so much that the DVD contains some form of extended version.
 
the only fault i could say was that it didnt really hang together well - there was no central character so was just a collection of scenes strung together. plus the 2 plots never really meshed.

having said that i thought it was fantastic. very tense and wonderfully acted (though maybe could have done with one less scene of hans landa being scary and polite at the same time...)
