Information on the Android OS for an iOS user

Okay before you guys get into troll/aggressive mode, please realize this is a legitimate post.

I'm on AT&T right now, I have an iPhone 3gs jail-broken. My whole family is on Verizon, so it'd make sense for me to be on Verizon likewise.

Though, no one I know with an Android can have a serious conversation with me about it. They just get all mad saying I'm a 'blind apple fanboy' while I have used actual linux distros long before Android was even out, and they have no *nix or linux knowledge.

I want to know is there anything you can really do that an iPhone cannot.

Before telling me, you obviously root, and use custom roms, so from that standpoint, think of the jail-broken advantage too.

I can use Flash, so please don't use that as a perk.
I can tether, so don't use that as a perk.
I can multi-task (No, not the Apple multi-task, I'm not on iOS4)
I can get free apps, too, actually any app for free

So far the only thing I've came across that Androids have a perk of is their over-clocking, iPhone cannot do that.
I absolutely love the Navigation on the Android with the new Google Maps w/ turn-by-turn navigation, that is a plus

I want to switch over mainly because it'll be cheaper, but with Verizon's tiered data plans (I signed a contract on AT&T before that happened, so I still have unlimited data) I'm not sure it's worth if theres no significant perks.

So please don't troll me, or bash, or just say 'lolz it's from Google so it's immediately better applefanboy', I'd like real answers, and real perks, better if you were using iPhone and went to Android.

My questions:
My iPhone is my music device, so I would need something to play my music, so how is the the system with music?
My iPhone hooks up to my Head unit in my car, via usb, I don't have an AUX input.
My iPhone works in linux, syncing with music, photos, ssh, etc.

1. The stock music app is acceptable but there are better music app, free, in the market. If you root your phone and run CyanMod the music player is quite good.
2. My phone , a Nexus One, syncs to my car for hands free phone calls and such also can gey specific songs or playlists by voice command.
3. There's a port of Linux for the phone, I have a terminal with ssh, music and photos you just drag and drop.

Sweet, now as for actual linux support. I.E., using it in Ubuntu/Debian/Arch etc.

Now while I'd love to get a Nexus one, it'd have be a CDMA phone for verizon. I heard HTC's are really the way to go, as Motorola, etc lock down their phone a decent amount. Best phone [at the moment] for complete overhaul, custom roms or even porting another build from another phone? I love the look of the Droid x, or Fascinate, but they're both pretty locked own in comparison to HTC's.

The Fascinate is the T-Mobile Vibrant with a keyboard, a good choice. It looks like it's been rooted, you can check out this link.

As far as I know there isn't any custom roms yet, CyanMod is working on one for the Vibrant so the Fascinate shouldn't be far behind.
