I am trying to recruit into the Australian Defence Force (Navy) and have a beep test coming up in, well.. I'm not sure when...a couple of months (they have a very drawn out recruitment process).
I have been running training for two months and have improved my endurance considerably already. I can easily jog on the treadmill for half an hour at a decent speed. When jogging around my neighbourhood, which is has large hills and long stretches of road, I have improved very well, and can sprint out the last leg of my 'circuit'.
But - when it comes to practising the beep test (I have a recording from the Defence Force site on my ipod), I can barely run for 4 mins....why the heck is this?
Does anyone have any pointers? It's beginning to get a tad disheartening..
Thanks to anyone in advance.
