Recently I've been doing a lot of personal research on the topic of infinity, and what it means in our current reality. My theory is this:
If our universe/reality is infinitely large and infinitely small then could it be possible that Our universe is a minuscule building block in a larger universe/dimension?... and within our own world could be tiny universes that may contain their own civilizations and physical laws based on the type of matter they are within. This goes on for infinity in both directions. Time is also relative in this theory so the smaller inner dimensions would see time moving much slower. so a day for us could feel like a billion years relative to the "inner civilization. Or consider water spiraling down a drain relative to the size of a spiral galaxy and how fast each appears to move based on perspective to the size of the event, so if in perspective the galaxy was the size of the spiraling water it would appear that the galaxy and therefore time would move much faster. This time theory also explains why it is difficult to view minuscule particles and why things appear to pop into and out of existence at the atomic level. similar to how stars pop in and out of existence in our universe, these things could just be happening to fast for us to see from our perspective.
I'm no scientist, but would love to get some feedback on this from other people interested in this topic. Thank you for taking the time to read my theory!!
as far as the universe that we know... yes it would have to be finite, however the grand scheme of things would be infinite, and as far as billions of years, that again is relative to your perspective in my "idea" time varies based on perspective, so a billion years could appear to be a nanosecond on a larger scale/upper dimension.
also light is a constant in our fabric of time, but who knows what rules are like "outside" of our known universe?
