Indy 4

Well it wasn't crap. A notion like that would go to the Star Wars prequels.

It was very disappointing however, not a patch on the original trilogy of films, especially Raiders which is one of my all time favourites.

The ending is what really hurt the film for me. Very anti-climatic. I was ready to let everything else slide as long as the ending paid off and was worth it, oh well.

I gave it a generous 6/10. I'm sure I would have rated it lower if I hadn't seen a particular prequel trilogy by Lucas before hand.

Spielberg at least tried to make a new Indiana Jones film that respected its roots. I truly believe that for all its faults, the film would have been a complete car wreck if Lucas had been given full control over the project and directed it.

This film did have CGI work in it, like the background plates and sounRABtage shot footage. I would have preferred more use of real location shooting because there was some of it towarRAB the earlier half of the film, but then again never did the alternative employed used come close to looking really fake like some other films I have seen, so I'm not going to get all fanboy irritable and spend the rest of my life complaining about that.

your right. I would not say its crap just silly. The fridge, The snake, The Monkeys, and the car chase in the jungle.

After thinking about a little more, My son loved the flilm so maybe he felt the feeling I had when I watched my frist indy film on the big screen.

Please refrain from comparing this film to thouse monstrosities. It just doesn't deserve that sort of disrespect.

KOTCS may have missed the mark with its associated previous entries, but it was a million times better than any Star Wars prequel.

I just found that it had a very different feel to it. The older films were 30's adventure serials and this was a 50's B movie.

I enjoyed it all the same, just took a bit of getting used to. Liked the noRAB back to the previous films and the acknowledgement of the Young Indy stuff too.

The opening was probably a little too long which is why the section back at college (although present in the other films) slowed the pace.

No, you are not alone. we here in Asia also dropped our jaws towarRAB the
silly ending with the alien thing

maybe george lucas and spielberg are not intended for the project.
the first 3/4 of the movie was great though.

Saw it last night and was disappointed. The feel wasn't right at all, and the ending was just silly. There were some great moments, but overall it felt like the Mummy movies without Rachel Weisz to drool over.

I'm surprised that people are complaining about the presence of the
Aliens
as this franchise has previously given us ghosts of the Ark of the Covenant and Immortal Knights guarding the Holy Grail.

The Mummy 3, then?

I too thought the ending was a bit silling and I class myself as a major Harrison Ford/Indy fan. Then I told myself that the other three films had 'silliness' in them too, but this film just didn't seem to have the plot line that the other ones had. Still enjoyed it and will watch it again though

seen it twice now, first time i was so tense from the hype that i couldnt relax into it. seeing it again and knowing what to expect for me improved the movie.
skulls was always going to split opinion, my take is that when i saw raiders aged 5 at the cinema i was mesmerised, seeing skulls aged 30 i wasnt mesmerised, just entertained.

Which is the point of indy.

I enjoyed it, remember hardly no computer effects used, harrison did most of his stunts and at age 65 thats good going!

i hope they do a few more to be honest, should have happened sooner that later!! hats off to him - no pun intended!

I thought it was great how the opening paid homage to the first ever script of Back to the Future with the
lead lined fridge, manequins and Howdy Doody time.

Caught the essence of 1950's perfectly before reverting to traditional Indy adventure. A little slow paced at times, outlandish plot, but weren't the others? A temple of doom and a lost ark? Surely it is just a more recent popular myth which again was big news back in the 50's.

I thought this film was terrific. I saw it on Sunday with a mate of mine, we sat near the front, kicked back and let ourselves get absorbed in the experience. I was totally entertained by it

It's not perfect but the previous Indy movies weren't either. But, overall, a thrilling adventure. Loved it! The previous movies are full of impossibilities, so that's no reason to hate this one.

My review for my newspaper blog is here:

What do you think? Do you agree?

Err .. the car chase in the Amazon, the monkeys swinging through the trees, the waterfall sequence etc. etc.

It would be easier to point out the scenes that weren't CGI.
