Indoor/outdoor pet doors. Anyone have problems with wildlife, skunks, etc,

I grew up with one in my house and we only ever had our own cats use it. We had raccoons in the area and I don't think they ever found the entrance and the cats wouldn't use it around them. My grandmother lived more out in the wilderness and she had a skunk come in, and I think she had a deer try once. So there is a chance that something will come in. It should come with a removable cover so you can keep the cat in at night and that will reduce the chances the wildlife will come in.
 
I've heard more stories of possums than skunks or raccoons.

If the animal smells food (ie: canned food) it'll come in in the after dark hours. Get a locking door that you can shut when your cat is home at night. Or one that requires a special collar to make open.

You don't want possum poo in the place, they seem to have diarhea going all the time.
 
getting in house this way? I'm thinking of installing a pet door so my cat can get in and out of house when she wants, but am concerned about wildlife getting in (I'm in suburbs). Anyone with one of these doors have this problem?
