my cat has recently developed a severe case of arthritis in one of his legs due to an injury when he was a kitten, he has always had an Extreme need to go outside and in my neighborhood all cats go outside, i'm worried about his ability to handle outdoor life like dogs and things when he can't really walk right so i want to keep him in, unfortunately he bolts for the door as soon as i get near it and he cries at the top of his lungs all day and night. he is neutered and about a year and a half old. how can i keep him inside and keep my sanity?

just keep him in a room and try to keep it closed most of the time and when he is lose in your hose, keep the doors closed.

make it so he cant go near the door put him in a single room for a while and close the door then u sholdnet be able to hear him ... this will keep him away from the front doors and what not and it will make his want for it less... dont give in tho beause then he will never listen to u

Have you tried getting him medication for his arthritis? At one and a half years, even with a bad leg, he really shouldn't have arthritis. Stiffness, sure, but not all out arthritis. Talk to your vet. There are some really good, cheap over the counter people meds that you can give to animals that help a lot (we had a great dane/german shepard with severe arthritis and it cleared right up). Also try, when he is inside to massage his leg and the surrounding joints, making sure to gently stretch it. If you do these things, his leg should be fine, and he'll be able to go outside.
