Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: He's back! (spoilers)

Definately one I would see more than once that's for sure.
 
Crap! There are a lot of spoilers on this thread... It's taking a lot for me not to peek at them all :lol: I'm guessing I should see the movie so I can join in the conversation :)
 
I went to see this film last night, and it was really good seeing how i havent seen any other indiana jones film:lol:
The only part i dident like was the supernatural thing at the end :P

"mutt" was HOT.
 
:nod: I did catch myself looking at my watch, which is never a good sign. Overall I was just a little surprised that the film wasn't as polished as it could have been. Aside from the fact I didn't particularly like theme of the story, I thought some of the scenes should have been edited down or cut entirely to help it flow better. Also, I read a review that said how at no point did you feel Indy was really in danger, and I think that's so true.

I loved the bit when Mutt guessed that Indy was about 80 yrs old :lol:

True about the mixed reviews, too. Where I loved it, my brother hated it. :lol:
 
It is weird that there are so many mixed reviews about this movie. I personally loved it because of what it was about. I've been interested in that stuff since I was a kid so the movie was no let down at all. The research was clearly done because the mythology flowed with each other. I didn't feel there were any skipped moments as far as the myths went. Sure myths always go deeper and further but for the movie what was given was enough.

Still wish more people liked the [sp]alien aspect of it[/sp] but unfortuately (not in a bad way) not everyone shares the same views as I do when it comes to this controversal topic.
 
I wanted to like it so badly but I just couldn't. It felt so long too!

R2Roswell - Wow, I hadn't quite realised that so much of the movie was based on actual mythology. That's pretty cool! Thanks for the information, and for the record, I don't think you're sad to be that into it, if that's what you like, then fair enough.

But

[sp]I still don't like the aliens angle in the movie. I just think they tried to modernise it a bit and fell flat on their face, it didn't seem "believable" like the rest of the Indy movies. I just think trying to mix sci-fi into that genre was a mistake, and for me personally, it was really too outrageous.

I'm not saying I didn't like the alien thing because I don't believe in them (I don't know what I think about aliens, to be honest), I didn't like it because it just didn't fit. That's all I can say really! :shrug:[/sp]

I didn't like the Alien thing.
I don't believe in God, but I at least cared about what was happening in the other movies.
It was actually interesting.
I could actually be pulled in and believe that something could burn Nazi's faces off.

This one was just written poorly.
I just didn't care.

I knew it would be about aliens as soon as I saw that skull filled with saran wrap, and I found it very lame.

There's a new saying, don't you know?

So.. Indy 4 nuked the fridge when the nuke nuked the fridge.
No offence.. but a lot of things in this movie were just plain stupid.

Please.. at least they joked around in the first scene where Indy miss-reads the swing and lands in the truck behind him.

But Mutt NEVER swinging on vines ever in his life is a pro?

I just wish it weren't about you know..

Just got back from seeing the movie. It was good, but it didn't really live up to the hype.
 
That's good news about Shia. Personally I wasn't real thrilled of him in an Indiana Jones movie (those are classic!) but in the movie posters he does look good side H.Ford. Can't wait to find out come Sunday when I see it.
 
I just saw the movie today!!! Here are my thoughts in spoiler format so feel free to reply.

1.) [sp]Seriously what is with you people?! The whole extraterrestrial stuff was the best part! Seriously Indiana Jones + Extraterrestrials= EXTRAORDINARY![/sp]

2.) [sp]Ever since I was a kid I've always done research on UFOs, and extraterrestrials, alien abductions, etc (go ahead and call me a freak or just laugh). I thought it was a very excellent move that Spielberg and Lucas combined their love for science fiction with one of the coolest heroes on the planet. It made me enjoy the film even more.[/sp]

3.) [sp]The title, "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", was a pure give away that extraterrestrials would be involved in this movie. And then of course Area 51 and the crate from Roswell, New Mexico 1947. (It was so cool to find out that Indy was apart of that clean up)

And I'm really glad they stayed true to the mythology. The Crystal Skulls are also something I have researched in over the past several years. They are one of the coolest mysteries on this planet. No one on this planet knows how they were made and the main theory has always been that they were created by a higher intellegence and one not of this earth. I've always believed that and to this day I still do.

And there was also that whole collective consciousness stuff. That was cool. The beings might've been seperate but when they were all brought together, their minds worked as one. Another piece of mythology I've done research on. From a lot that I've researched, there are many who claim that extraterrestrials share one conciousness.

The one other thing I enjoyed was how the greys stayed covered in that gold Mayan head gear. It totally made sense. The greys probably didn't want their true identities shown so the head gear was a way to mask that.[/sp]

4.) [sp]Irina Spalko was a great character. Come the scene where all the cyrstal skulls were brought together; I loved how the knowledge and power consumed her. She was desperate to find the answers that the greys had and once she did she just couldn't handle it. It just proved that the knowledge 'they' had was just too much for us and that we aren't ready to understand the mystery.[/sp]

5.) [sp]Totally loved the action scenes. It was great to see Indy kicking some butt. I wasn't even born at the time the others came out (for Crusade I was but I was only a year old) so it was fun to see an Indiana Jones film on screen for the first time[/sp]

6.) [sp]It was fun to see Marion back. I loved her in 'Raiders'. I always figured it would be her that Jones would be in love with no matter what. And I am so glad that the rumor mill ended up being true: That Mutt Williams was the love child of Marion and Indiana. Loved how Mutt was always freaked out with his parents and just as they would kiss he would intervene. It was so obvious though even before it was revealed by Marion, because Mutt had the same energy and super hero action that Jones possessed. So glad to see Marion and Indy get married at the end. It was entirely sweet.[/sp]

Okay well I think that about sums up my rant on this movie. I loved it so much. I think now I might want to get the novel to add to my sci-fi collection. And when this movie comes out I definately plan to add it to my...
 
[sp]I just came back with my friends seeing this movie. It's a bit watered down, I think. In the original movies, there was more exploration going from point A to B. Here, it took like a second to figure out where they needed to go.

I felt like I kinda knew once I saw the crystal skull that it was alien origin because it reminded me of the aliens in the Aliens series with Ripley. [/sp]
 
I saw it this morning. I liked it! I was kind of surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. I thought that it was pretty up to par with the originals. It does not in any way compare to the first three, but it was a fun Indi film none the less. I would recommend it. I loved Shia in his role. He's a fun character and guy to watch. I thought he worked very well with Harrison.

[sp]Yeah, they were really cute! My friend was so pleased about that she let out an audible "aaaw!" in the cinema when Indy said that the one thing wrong with the other women he'd been with was that they weren't her. It's a good line, it has to be said :sigh: I loved how everytime it looked like they were getting close though, Mutt kept getting in between them :lol: I let out my own "yay!" when we found out for sure that he was Indy's son (even though I knew that already!) :D[/sp]
