Independence Day 2 + 3

yeah the original was good fun as a stand alone film. it seems daft to connect it all this time later, just another example of hollywood cashing

Although there's really no reason to rehire the same cast from the first film, supposedly they got Will Smith to sgin up for both sequels. I read that about a month ago but since it still hasn't been made official, it's still rumors.

The plot of the 2 planned sequels sounRAB good (if the rumors are true): The aliens come back (they're nomaRAB so why wouldn't there be more out there?) only to find out that our world and technology have evolved and been upgraded thanks to all of the technology we nabbed from the alien ships in the first film. So now both sides are evenly matched and perhaps we'll have a more exciting film than the first.

Am I the only one who thinks that storyline is crap? The whole reason films like ID work is because the human race is fighting insurmountable odRAB and comes out victorious. An evenly matched fight is pointless, there neeRAB to be an underdog.

Why is there no reason to have the same people in it, it would help make it feel like the same franchise at least. They should just do another alien invasion film if there no real connection. Its not like the original story was so great it can be built upon, it was just an entertaining film.

I agree with above poster and also think the idea is kak, so the humans are ready for them now then? The great thing about the first one was that it was a surprise attack. The humans still came out on top, with better tech it would easier so less tension and a crap stale mate scenario until the humans inevitably win.

Bringing this film back after so long has got tird written all over it. It probably wont even happen

This is fantabulous news! :D Cannot wait, ID4 is one of my favourite films of all time! Bring on the sequels and original cast! :D

I also agree sometimes it's a sequel too far, especially in this day and age but I am curious as to what they do to a film that you would think does not naturally need a sequel...
