Incredible rotation help? Hotmail major help?

First off, love the phone so far but... need some help! These two issues are bugging me.

When the phone is in vertical view in my hand and i rotate the view in my hand to landscape, it sometimes goes to landscape view. But when in landscape view, the phone has a tough time recognizing that ive rotated the handset to vertical view. Any way I can change the this? Most of the time my hand set is in landscape view because I get so frustrated that it doesnt change to vertical view for me when I want it to. My setting is checked on "switch orientation automatically when rotating phone," so why doesnt my phone listen to me when doing so!!!

Next thing--I have a hotmail account that I cannot link to my Incredible for the life of me. I graduated from LSU, and since then they've issued out alumni email addresses and have used hotmail as the server... for example, I log onto hotmail.com with email address [email protected]. I'm having the toughest time with this set up. The set up screen asks me for the server, and I suppose the server for hotmail is mail.live.com, pop3.live.com right? I keep getting a warning of "your server is not connecting." What am I doing wrong?!?!? Ahhhh
 
i dont have to phone so i may just be talking out the side of my neck lol..but when you're going from landscape to vertical try tilting to phone towards u..other phones ive dealt with usually respond like that
 
The orientation is calculated by which edge of the screen is pointing towards the floor. In other words, the screen and back of the phone have to be facing the horizon.

The SMTP and POP3 addresses you have for hotmail are correct, but you must use SSL. Make sure you have SSL turned on in the account settings on your phone. More details here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/01/16/hotmail-free-pop3-and-smtp-access-and-server-configuration-settings/
 
Okay, so I FINALLY got Hotmail to work on my phone....
BUT now another stupid issue. Mail doesn't send! For instance, when I send an email out, it says "Email saved as draft" even though I press send and the few times that it does tell me that the email was "Sent," the email doesn't really send. How do I fix this?? I've deleted my hotmail account and added it back onto the phone to see if that would fix the problem, but it doesn't... Help?!?
 
I'm pretty sure I'm using the right settings for the SMTP server. pop3.live.com. I do have SSL on too, port 995. I don't know what the deal is. It definitely synchs to my hotmail account, I just can't send email out, which is pretty weird.
 
That's the wrong address for SMTP. It should be smtp.live.com I believe. The SMTP port is typically 25 or 587 -- 587 is preferred I believe.

You're basically asking the receiving service to send -- which it doesn't handle.

Other than being able to type in any numbered port I wish, there are no options to specify a type of port.

Protocol is set at POP (options POP/APOP/IMAP).. if that matters.

So SMTP settings match that as close as possible? For SMTP try port 587.

For reference SMTP = outgoing/sending email, POP = incoming/receiving email
 
Okay, did the SMTP set up about a million times with SSL port 587, and even 25.... It says "Your incoming server does not support SSL. Please modify your incoming server's security type."

Sigh...

And that supposedly works with Hotmail on a G1. Did you make sure you have TLS or similar on?
