allaboutsymbian.com posted this very helpful guide on how to jack up the output volume of the N73. Changing these settings showed some surprisingly good results. Why didn't any of us think of that?

what they suggest will cause distortion and lower sound quality.
The best options is as they state is to buy a In-Ear-Monitor that will block out noise making the low sound less of a problem.

^ i have played with that equalizer and what they are suggesting does indeed cause distortion... get sony mdr-ex71, and things will be different

lol i already did this with my n80 wen i first got it 5 months ago, it does work but u have to make sure u tune it just right so u cant here distortion, wen ever im out and about i can NEVER hear the trafic etc

The only reason I cared to do this was to listen to music in my car, which doesn't distort the sound at all. Out of the little speakers on the phone, it sounds WAY too loud and distorted, but it's not distorted through the 3.5 connection to my car at all.

This is funny, I actually have a equalizer setting called soft on my phone, where I lowered all the bands so it would be quieter. That's using the stock stereo headset. In somewhat loud areas I use regular profile at about 40-60%.

anyone know how to up the volume of the earpiece...i find it hard to hear ppl unless it's dead quiet....my old motorola razr was louder than this
