Increase MPG in my Pontiac?

So I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix with about 75,000 miles on it. I keep up with my maintenance regularly like oil changes, changing the oil filter, and keeping the tires balanced. But lately I've been noticing that its burns alot of gas. I'm not a speeder but I do live in Ohio with the winter weather I do constantly use my heat. So I'm not sure if its because I use the heat or is it something else I can treat my car with and have the gas mpg boost?

turn your car on and have a friend rev it up while you go look at the tailpipe, if more than a few drops come out and keep coming out, your engine may be using too much gas, this could be caused by corrosion on the battery or in the fuel system itself. If there is corrosion on the battery, disconnect it and pour a bottle of Coca-cola onto the corrosion, let sit for about 5 minutes and then spray off with a hose. Yes Coke removes battery corrosion, I thought it was crazy too, but it really works. just make sure you disconnect the battery.

It could also just be from using the heat.

Your alternator can more than compensate for the stock radio, that can't possibly affect your mpg. But he is right on the fuel treatment, maybe get your fuel filter replaced, and check your spark plugs. If you want a slight mpg increase get a drop in K&N filter, MSD ignition coils, maybe some beefier spark plug wires... if you want a larger increase you'll need a programmer. You can get maybe another 5 mpg out of your car but a programmer runs around $250 or so. Basically it won't pay for itself within a month. Assuming you go from 25 mpg up to 30 mpg you're only saving $.02 per mile, so that will be 12,500 miles before you break even if gas is at $3 a gallon.

dont forget to change the following to help increase gase mileage;

spark plugs
spark plug wires
cap and rotor (if you car has one)
fuel filter
air filter
also, get a haynes manual for your car. its a great read and it will help you narrow down your issues you are having with your car.

Your heater should not effect your gas mileage.
