Incoming MMS Pictures Are Very Small on E-70 Help Please

I have my settings for Multimedia Message set to "large" but when I get a MMS message with a picture, the picture is always very small.

I don't know if maybe this is a problem with my carrier.

Any help is appreciated.

This is, in fact, a problem with Cingular. They "dumb down" the size to something that is almost unusable. (I have the same issue on three handsets--all different makes/models.)

Cingular handles unbranded devices very poorly. Their system basically checks your IMEI to see what phone you have. It's then classified as either supported or unsupported. If it is unsupported, then if it is a picture it is shrunk down to the smallest size sendable, and if it's anything else (video, audio, etc.) then it is removed completely.

Really crappy way to handle it, imo, but whatever. It's better than locking unbranded handsets out completely. A good option would be to find out the email address for your mms (used to be [email protected]) and just have people email them to you.

Kind of a pain but then again I don't send MMS all that often.

This actually happens on T-Mobile as well on newer S60 phones... happened on my n80 (and on another person's I can confirm) and on my e61.

Nokia has to make an application that communicates to the servers what your phone is capable of. There was a thread a while back, that said the network asks the phone what it can do, and the phone replies. This doesnt happen on unbranded, since they dont have the app.

You're exactly right. Just got off the phone with them for a second time and they said there's nothing they can do.

This really sucks!!!

It's weird that this would be the case though, since I've only really owned unbranded phones the past couple of years, and the only time I've had this trouble is with S60v3 phones... none of the rest have had any issues with MMS size.

Can anyone else confirm this? That was the one issue that would prevent me from switching over to cingular.. but if it happens on tmob too, I will have to reconsider.

Yes, I made a similar thread on the Cingular forums.

The images look fine when you resize them. I'm willing to live with it.
