Inception - How freakin weird and secretive is this movie

Normally don't like big silly action blockbusters, but I was honestly very impressed with Inception. Nobody is saying it's a work of genius, or that the plot can be put up there alongside some of the great films of the past, but as a big budget blockbuster film it was a cut above anything else that's been released recently.
 
I don't think the whole thing was a dream, as
there are several occasions earlier on where he spins the top and it does stop. I think the last time he tries spinning the top (besides the end) is when he goes under for a few seconRAB in the basement of the chemist (where there are loaRAB of people dreaming together). The dream so disturbs him that he goes straight to spin the top in the bathroom but gets interrupted and drops it on the floor. Could that be relevant I wonder?. Probably not.:confused:

Fantastic film, well worth seeing again.
 
I agree about the age thing, but with the security people I think it's because we are told that all the other people in the dream except the real ones who are dreaming as well are just projections of people's subconcious. Since you can't control your subconcious none of them could have just decided to create an army of projections.
 
I'm sorry but theres opinion and just being different. I mean how could you say zero depth characters Leo DiCaprio brang so much depth to his character. Even Cillian Murphy brang what could be a boring one dimensional character some depth.

There was also a large section where there wasn't many special effects. All before the heist not many were used obviously the parts where you see the cafe explode and city fold. Also that comment tells me that you only didn't care about the characters because all you were thinking about were the special effects.
 
thats interesting. and people say the film has no depth. thats pretty amazing, you can tell this idea was being thought out for a long time.

i went last night, quite litarally skipped out out of work and made a bee line to Cineworld. have been looking forward to seeing this for a long time.
really enjoyed it. But like other Nolan films, it is very story heavy. I always need a second viewing to get a better grip of unanswered questions. There is so much that happens in the first 10 minutes.
however, i enjoyed it very much. I did prefer the Prestige though.

It was interesting, i told a couple of work colleauges that i was watching this movie later on, and they asked "whats that about"- and it was then i realised that i actually had no idea really - as i have avoided all reviews and articles about it.
I just knew it was directed and written by the Nolan bros, so just knew i would love it. And i did!!!
Recommeded.
 
I wish I could see it in the cinema again. At least when I did see it I saw it in Waterloo's Imax - and it was an amazing experience worth every penny. :)

My local never showed it (they're a tiny cinema and only show kiddie films, mostly). :mad:

The cinema nearest to me which did screen it is Cineworld in Ashford but it's too far to go without a car. I'll just have to make the most of the DVD when I get that.
 
I went to see it today. Fantastic film. Thought provoking like all of Nolan's other work. I thought it would be quite confusing as a lot of the reviews have said about this, but it actually had quite a linear structure to the film. Good to see that CGI wasn't over used as well. I might go for a second viewing at the cinema. Normally I would think 2 and a half hours is a little bit too long for a film, but not in this case.
 
and yet no-one heard all this ?

plus - what evidence would there be that he fought with her and killed her ? the police would need some evidence .
 
I wonder what Armond White thinks of the word "Turgid" as it looks remarkably apt for his review... time will tell who is the more gullible: those who think Inception is a good film or those who think his is a clever review
 
Saw this last night and loved it!

I was quiet pleased that my intellect was aroused during this film and I had to actually concentrate and "lean in" to try to follow what was going on. I thought the premise was quite a complicated one for a movie, when you consider that most films aim for the lowest common denominator, and this alone made me enjoy the film. I though that many of the comments on here about character development are a slightly unjust as the film was very action based and you very rarely get any action films that include any peripheral character depth.

I thought that the 4th layer (snow) could have been slightly better as I began to question the believability of the film during these scenes.

All in all, the tension was held brilliantly throughout, DiCaprio was a million miles better in an action role than Cruise, the visual aspect was not over-bearing and at times made me gasp with delight and I left having enjoyed a wonderful film from a man who is fast becoming one of the most original writer/directors in cinema history.
 
Finally got round to seeing Inception (cinema was still rammed even though there was about 5 screenings yesterday alone :eek:)

I was, on the whole, very pleased with the film. I have not heard anyone I know that has seen it say anything negative about it BUT I am quite weird with my taste in moves and tend to be disappointed with a lot of films that have been really hyped up (not because they are bad films per se but because they rarely live up to the hype!!)

IMO Inception does live up to it's hype - it's not a 'perfect' film but it is intelligent, different and wonderfully constructed *for the most part*

An example of what I wasn't too keen on =
I personally wasn't keen when they went to the third level for example - I found the setting a bit distracting

It's the first time in a long time I have come out of the cinema feeling excited..

I will def be watching again when it hits Sky Box office - and yep I'll even pay again :p
