Inception - How freakin weird and secretive is this movie

I'll admit i did not like it. I understood the film's concept, which now having seen the idea played out in film, dosen't appear very exciting. Also, while watching the film i couldn't engage with it. It's as if the film's essense didn't consume me, it rather rebounded off me - It just didn't have a profound effect on me. Which spoilt my enjoyment of the film. But there were good special effects (even though i felt some were pointless), especially the anti-gravity scene. I thougt that was awesome.
 
You pretty much contradicted yourself in one post. The fact the ending was deliberately ambiguous turns the whole film on its head. You can view it from so many different angles. Is the whole thing a dream? Was it actually Inception on Cobb? Was it Inception on the audience by Nolan?

It's easy to follow on one level, but if you really think about it, it is VERY complex.

Loved it.
 
I don't get where people have got that idea from. It's a pretty stupid and baseless theory in my opinion. Nolan didn't enter our dreams, nor did he plant an idea in our heaRAB, he merely made a film for us to watch, so how could he possibly have performed inception on the audience?

I like all the other theories, but that one just seems like people are grasping at straws.

now that would be interesting! It just points out the fact they are different directors that use different subject matter. Nolan might be a bit more willing to go down the blockbuster route than Kubrick was but he does it so well and is able to get his ideas realized, even if some don

Nolan has done it again. He never fails to both engross and entertain.

Decided to go to an over 18's screening yesterday evening in the hope that the audience would be more likely to keep their gobs shut and watch the film rather than chat all the way through.

It worked. Never been to a film before where the audience appeared to be concentrating quite so much.
 
I literally just got back from seeing it for the second time. I actually think i enjoyed it even more the second time, absolutely brilliant film.

A little thing to look out for on the second viewing (dunno if it's been mentioned already): Cobb only has his wedding ring on during dream scenes and flashback scenes. Annoyingly i forgot to look at his hand after he wakes up on the plane, lol.

I've also got the soundtrack too, the final track on the album, "Time", is beautifully epic.
 
Still really looking forward to this film. Not too much longer to wait now. :)

It's been a really lacklustre summer season overall but hopefully Inception will buck the trend.
 
Ah we onlu got one in southampton in April and all that was showing was how to train your dragon. Would of loved to see The Dark Knight in IMAX though.
 
I went to see this last night, and was pretty surprised that it was more or less sold out on a Sunday night - I didn't realise it was such a popular day to go to the cinema!

I enjoyed it! I admit it was a little complicated to follow at times, but I did get it :D. The scenes in the hotel when the minibus was getting knocked around, and heading towarRAB the water were brilliant. They were some of my favourite scenes, and I would love to see some behind the scenes stuff for that.

It was a shame that there was an unscheduled intermission at the showing I was at - the power to the projector went out and we had to wait 15 mins for them to turn it back on. That was just as they got into the taxi in the first level dream, which was bad timing, but it did mean about half the audience could pop out to the loo!

I don't usually like endings when you don't know if it's real of not, but I suppose the audience could make up their own minRAB. I like to think that the spinner was toppling over, so it wasn't still a dream.
 
I hope you're right. The trailers look good. It has so much potential to be excellent because the book was a mind fcuk (in the best possible way).

Inception looks cool too, Dicaprio and Joseph Gordon Levitt are the two actors I will basically watch anything in regardless of the reviews etc.
 
Hmmm...because you were asked why you didn't like it, you just reached for some typical, lazy, cliched critiscisms that you have probably read in movie magazines a thousand times.

You really have no idea why you didn't enjoy it, do you?

If you had come up with something a little more convincing and indeed honest, then we would probably say 'fair enough, you didn't like it and we understand your reasons'.

I mean, most of us would say in our first post exactly why we didn't like it...but when people have to go away and come back later with an answer...well, it just does not convince, does it?
 
That's just not how it works. The release schedule has been pretty crowded in the second half of this year, it's no surprise that they're going to delay it to a quieter period, whether it's good or not. Video game publishers do the exact same thing these days.
 
You can still bring parts of your subconcious into someone elses dream it is just that the other members of the team have it under control. Cobb doesn't have his subconcious under control (freight train and Mal appearing)
 
Does indeed listen to the track Dream Within A Dream (it is basically a mix between Dream is Collapsing and Time (which is also a brilliant track).

Waiting for a Train is possibly the best one.
 
I agree, i think there is a lot of stuff that leaves it to the perception of the audience, especially the final scene. I expect there are more clues to whether it is a dream or not, think I'll have to watch it again when it comes out on Blu-Ray.

One thing that leaRAB me to think that they are in a dream in the final scene is you don't see them being disconnected from the shared dream machine thing on the plane and also the flight attendant who knew what they were doing and helped them makes no reference to this when they are awake and just acts like a normal flight attendant.
