It was the funniest episode of the series so far. The bit where the neighbour comes round the house was funny, Neil standing up in the kitchen and then suddenly ducking when he saw the neighbour through the window and crawling round the house...even Will kicking the door in a panic, I thought it very funny. I loved series 1 and 2. I haven't found this series to be anywhere near as good but the last 5 mintutes of this episode was hillarious. Unfortunately the rest of it was questionable, like the rest of the series.
People have commented that repeating the jokes about Will's mum have gotton tiresome. I think it's the reason the whole series has been poor, they have relied on all the old jokes created in the previous two series and have struggled to come up with anything new and funny enough to stick. Yes you want to have an element of consistency and I love all the jokes about Neil's dad being a 'bender' or Will's hot mum - but you can't use them repeatedly in most episodes.
By no means was running over the squirrel funny. Everyone else I was watching it with went quiet. The point about these guys are that they are a bunch of idiots who end up getting in bad situations but they wouldn't intentionally hurt someone or something. It's not OK for the show to suggest that running over the 'piss taking squirrel' is funny. It's not OK to take out your aggression on someone else and it's certainly not funny.
And this is completely different from the fish incident. They were panicking on a boat (Simon was naked and shivering) and someone had said that the fish was suffering. Neil thought he was being humane by putting the fish out of its misery. Here, Jay deliberately (and predictably and therefore made it even less funny) ran over the squirrel.
Didn't find vandalising the dafodils funny. Can that be funny? And agree that it was so predicatable that Will would be the one to get caught.
The writers are getting desperate. Once in a while a shocking thing is ok but for the most part it's the realistic aspect of the boys life which just goes wrong which people can in a weird way relate to! I hope the movie uses the humour from series 1 and 2. This has so much potential and I want the finale to reflect that!!!!!! Or has the story run its course? So far, I would have been happier if they had gone for a movie straight away instead of a third series.
