(in your opinion) the most underrated shows in animation

Many things are called "underrated" because it's turned down by people and yet it's still talked about by several, several people or had a good run. The show I've chosen is (in my view) truly underrated because whilst it's rerun quite a bit today every now and again, it rarely even gets a mention!

Why? Because it may of only consisted of 13 5-minute shorts but for a children's show, let alone a purely musical one at that, it was absolutely perfect. Absolutely wonderful songs, great story lines and it appeals to its target audience perfectly without any need of talking down at them. Without seeing this show at a very early age, I don't think I would have been as ecstatic about animation as I am now neither! The animation was absolutely wonderful as well, considering the storybook-like style it went by.

So there's my pick. I would of also chosen the Oscar-nominated animated short "Famous Fred" by Patricia Quinn too but it's not a series in any sense, it was just a 30-minute animated film but I just thought it would have been worth mentioning it here anyway. :D

+1 about Clone High, and it still sometimes on reruns on Teletoon in Canada. Maybe some fans should do a fanfilm about a hypothetic season 2 ;)

Another underrated toons to the mix would be 6Teen who hadn't receive the chance to find an audience in the US, Quads a more politically incorrect cartoon then South Park.

Definitely seconding (or thirding...whatever) Clone High and Sheep in the Big City. Both great shows.

I'd also say Mission Hill, which had a really unique visual style and likable characters. I wish it could've at least gone on for another 13 episodes. It was another animated sitcom that didn't stick to conventions of it's medium and was cancelled before it's time. *sigh*

Yeah, actually I'll admit, this was a show created by the BBC, that already gives you a clue to where it came from, and I'm not sure if it was exported elsewhere apart from the Latin American Cartoon Network (which I know they had because it says on the Spanish Wikipedia article that is linked to the side)

Someone has uploaded all episodes of the show on the website "Veoh" if you're curious and they have released the series on DVD in the UK which can be playable in the U.S. or practically any other country through a region-free DVD player. Frankly, this is all I know, I'd like to think the series was exported to the U.S. at some point but I don't see any proof of this at all. Sorry!

In my eyes Venture Brothers is another cartoon that is totally underrated. It was a good show with good dialog and sarcastically unoriginal characters that somehow melded together into really funny plots. But, alas, there's just not enough love for this show.

Oh yeah, there was a lot of shouting. All Wrath-Amon did was shout.

But what impressed me is they took the "No killing" S&P rule and not only worked around it, but tied their little loophole into the main plot.

Staying away from shows already mentioned here (I also agree with most of them), I'd have to say Clerks and Home Movies were highly underrated.

Clerks only aired twice on ABC, was not promoted at all in favor of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" and drifted into obscurity. Honestly, the show is fantastic with unique humor and storylines, and it really deserved much more than it got.

Home Movies was ignored on UPN and basically forgotten. It got a second chance on Adult Swim and managed to get even better. For it's whole run it seemed to float JUST under the radar, I'm really shocked it got 4 seasons despite no one knowing anything about it.
