photography (8hrs)? What did you spend? I’ve seen anything from $900-$10,000… and frankly… some of the more expensive photogs are not that impressive. (ie. Bella)

Right now I found someone that will do it for $1500 including rights to the photos...

It varies greatly, and it always depends on the quality of work. For example, we're hiring an UH-mazing photographer. Extremely high quality stuff, and we're paying her $5K for eight hours and the rights to the photos (which will be sent to us on a DVD).

However, for us, photography was by and far the biggest splurge. We also joked that we would have hired her even if we got married at the courthouse because when do you ever have an excuse (or the funds) to have a photographer follow you around all day getting great photos of you and your family that you'll have for years to come?

Anyway, this is our photographer:

For some people, photography isn't as important and therefore, don't want to spend as much.

I'd say anything under $6-7K is reasonable, if the photographer's work matches the price, and the shooting time would have to be at least 8 hours.

I am spending $950 for 8hrs photographer and the photos on CD with rights.
All printing/albums are on me to take care of which is exactly what I wanted.

I'm paying about 3,500. Honestly I am using Bella. I loved their portfolio and my cousin who just got married used bella and I thought her album was amazing. I guess it just depends on personal style as well, but so far I have gotten nothing less than exceptional customer service and I think their albums are gorgeous. I will also get the rights to the digital negatives.

I spent about $1400 for eight hours with my photog. Just meet with that photog and make sure your styles match up and that you really do like the photos they have already taken.

If you live in or around Alabama, i know a fantastic photographer! She did mine and the pictures turned out perfect! And she only charged me $600. and it included the bridal and engagement portraits, the rehearsal, ceremony and reception from the moment I started getting ready til we left in the limo! And all the rights to the pictures! Before I found her, I was looking at anywhere from $900.-$1400. However, I will say that this is where you shouldn't go cheap unless you know the quality will be good because at the end of the day, your pictures are all you'll have! Congratulations and good luck!

A great alternative are students studying photography at art schools, luckily for me my mom is a photographer, as are a couple of our friends. I think $1500 is a good price for 8 hours, quite reasonable

I am spending 1150 on all of mine.. she takes endless pictures.. full day coverage... most weddings she gets about 1200 pics.. engagments are included we are spending 10 more for her to take family pictures the same day with our daughter. we get the rights to the pictures.. so 1500 isn't bad.. I found mine under creative services on my cragislist page.. its a good place to look for good photographers!
