In Yellowstone NP, can you see a lot of wildlife from the main roads & day hiking?

I'm going sometime this summer, I'd like to see as much wildlife as possible. However, I'll be going by myself so I'll be limiting my hiking to small day hikes and not going deep into the wild. I'm concerned I'll be missing quite a bit and won't get to see anything great due to these limitation...

Going to Yellowstone alone may sound like a great adventure but make sure you are near to at least one other person because, yes, you will see wildlife even in the crowded parts of the park. Make sure you have a walking stick with a "bear bell" on it when hiking the back trails. Let a park ranger know where you will be so someone will miss you if you don't show up where you are supposed to be. Other than that...Yellowstone is an awesome place to visit. Enjoy!

Yellowstone is a magnificent place, but personally I wouldn't go alone.
You will definitely see wildlife. Hopefully, not more than you can handle. You don't have to be on "back trails" to see bear. We stopped on the side of the road at a point of interest where others had congregated and 2 bears came out to greet us. Luckily I wasn't far from the car. I didn't know I could move that fast. Stay alert and expect the unexpected. And don't forget your camera.

You will see Buffalo and Elk maybe Moose and deer. The one thing you do not see much of any more is Bear they keep them in the wild. There are trout you can see at the lake and if you are lucky Trumpeter Swans. Much smaller wild life like squirrels and such are plentiful. There are wolves in the Yellowstone but they are heard not usually seen. If you have the chance take the short trip down to Grand Tetons It is worth it they are Beautiful. Check with the Rangers they may have hikes available for wild life viewing Have a great trip
