I just got my first set of injections lower spine on wednesday and I must say Im in worst pain then I started. What I want to know is will it get better? And if it doesnt what step to take after that.?Im almost regretting getting them right about now.Im sceduled for more on Tuesday this time in my neck.Scary stuff.Anybody ever have them in their neck are they very painful.Ive already been through a 3 level ACDF.

grama, this is normal to have increased pain after a nerve injection. Did you have pain during the actual procedure or just after? If you received pain after the injection, it will be that way for 3 to 5 days, then it should settle down.

Yes, it took about 5 days for all of mine...the pain peaked after about 3 days and then started to get better and by 5 days was gone. But I didn need to take a new muscle relaxer, because I was having muscle spasms...causeing evern worse pains than my normal pain.

I am sure you are going through a normal part of the procedure.

Please let us know how you feel in a few days.

Oh my. I am scheduled for my first SI injection on Monday. I will make sure to ask what kind of pain and discomfort I should expect and for how long before relief kicks in. I assumed I would get relief immediately

Hey Grama,

I have not had the Facet Injections in the lower spine but in the cervical spine and they did give me more pain immediately afterward. Then I just felt as if my neck was nurab like when you go to the dentist and get nurabed up. That went away in a few hours and I was in pain again...a bit worse then my regular pains.

Everyone is different so try to keep an open mind. I do hope you will see some relief from the injections.

The injections are also used as a diagnostic so even if it does not give you the relief your looking for it may be a good diagnostic for you doc on how next to proceed and to what may be going on with the spine.

Feel better and God Bless,

Chrissy

Hi, as the others have said, it's definitely normal to have some pain for up to a few days after the injection, however, it doesn't always happen.
When I had epidurals before surgery, I never felt a thing and had no pain or discomfort after (although I was in severe agony from my other pains so maybe I just didn't notice). After I had surgery , I did have some pain & discomfort afterwarRAB for about 2 days. But the discomfort was basically around/near the area of the injection only for me. My nerve pain was gone.

Thank you everyone for your replies I do feel a little better today. But still nervous about Tuesday I guess thats normal huh.I appreciate all the input. Grama
