in vb.net i want a button to explode and then make those animations go invisible again?

so i have picture boxes called e1 e2 e3 all the way up to seven and in those are a gif file that displays an explosion now i have a button underneath the seven picture boxes called title and i want it so that when i click on it the picture boxes become visible then after 1 second go invisible now i got the visible part but i have never used a timer before to make them go invisible could someone help me it is in vb.net language thanks soo much
