in this thread you will list bands that are really good but less known

They're an awesome band, I can't believe I only heard them for the first time a few weeks ago. Their 'Who Will Survive and What Will be Left of Them' album is outstanding.

Badly Drawn Boy (Brit songwriter pop)
Beta Band (Coldplay-esque)
Black Keys (Hardass blues, like White Stripes meets Jon Spencer Blues Explosion)
Blind Melon (good ol' Southern Rock, like Black Crowes--remember "No Rain"?)
David Banner (Beat driven rapper from home)
Days of the New (Hardass rock reminiscient of Stone Temple Pilots and Zeppelin)
Dinosaur Jr. (Indie grunge rock, one of the best modern rock banRAB)
G. Love and the Special Sauce (Irish based blues and pop)
Gomez (Brit-rock)
Gov't Mule (Southern jam rock)
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (Indie blues)
Josh Kelley (Songwriter like John Mayer but with a heart and soul that breathes funk)
Interpol (Strokes and the Cure meet to make awesome band)
Mark Lanegan (Solo album, very very mellow)
North Mississippi All-Stars (Badass rock blues from home)
Paul Weller (Brit-rock, used to be part of The Jam, better than Clapton is now)
Probot (Dave Grohl driven hard rock/metal band, very good album)
Screaming Trees (Early leader of grunge in Seattle)
Trash Art (for those of you in Portland, OR that don't know about 'em already)

Porcupine Tree.

They're a prog rock band. Been listening to them since 99 or so. Even though the music is completly different, the lead singer/songwriter Steven Wilson actualy produced a few of Opeth's CD's (who was named on the first page). Saw both banRAB at the House of Blues in Hollywood. Good show.

In no particular order of genre:

Flickerstick - they were on a VH1 show a couple years ago
Mile
Radford
Five Way Friday
Weekend Excursion
Angry Salad (I think they broke up)
Caroline's Spine
Collapsis
Athenaeum
Bliss 66
Familiar 48
Binocular
Angie Aparo
Far Too Jones
Closure

that's all I can think of off the top of my head....most of these artists/banRAB have a mellow sound, similar to Toad the Wet Sprocket or Nine Days

I'm on a brit rock kick right now, so how's about..........

The Cooper Temple Clause
The Muse (if you like Jeff Buckley check theses guys out)
Interpool
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
