both Clinton and Obama stand up, face the flag, put there hand over their heart, and say the Pledge of Allegiance one at a time?
Phil M- why not be patriotic during a time of war?
Steve- Why not start the Debate off ith them saying the pledge. We are at war people, now is the time for patriotism.

Okay, you're an idiot! I would dearly love to see them talking about the issues, not frigging saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Get over it already.

Only if you're into token and flagrant gestures of patriotism...

if you society quietly demands a pledge or lapel pin to be patriotic...how is it patriotic to do something that is quasi-demanded of you?

I don't think the lapel pin or the pledge can be a determining factor in whether or not an individual is an American or a patriotic american. You have to remember, most of your "paramilitary" nuts out there are bible-thumping, flag waiving, pledge yelling members of society......McVeigh, thought bombing the Murray Building in OKC was a patriotic gesture....

besides, when I was in school I pretty much refused to say "one nation under God" once I became cognisant of my personal beliefs....it has no business being in the pledge.
