In the Electric Mist DVD v Blu-ray

I'm hoping someone will have heard of this film which is an adaptation of a James Lee Burke novel and stars Tommy Lee Jones, John Goodman, Peter Sarsgaard and Kelly Macdonald. For some reason it never got a theatrical release in the UK but is going straight to DVD/Blu-ray with the DVD releasing on Monday and the Blu-ray two weeks later.

Thing is, there seem to be two versions: the American DVD cut and the French theatrical version. The UK DVD is 98 minutes (says Amazon) and the UK Blu-ray is 117 minutes.

So does anyone know if the DVD and the Blu-ray are different versions of the film? And if so, why?

Play.com have both the dvd and Bluray in stock now so it's already out and both are showing as 117 minutes.

If you have a Bluray player then the Blu is the obvious one to go for

The US R1 dvd is listed as the 102 minute Producers Cut while we have the Directors cut

Maybe Amazon's info is wrong. I went by what Amazon said and the BBFC site which also says 98 minutes.

Perhaps the short version was in the cinema .

The BBFC site can be very slow with updates

Sight & Sound review the dvd in this month's edition and their copy, provided by the distributors of course, was the 98 minute producer's cut.

Odd. Why would they release the producer's cut in the UK? I suppose the way to make sure it's the full version is to find the film in a shop and read the small print.
