in the 6th book of harry potter, why is there a dark mark over hogwarts

also why was malfoy fixing the cupboard to get death eaters into the school?
i mean what did the death eaters do when they got into the school?did they come just to kill dumbledore?

there is a dark mark because of all the death eaters that got in the school. They use it to get dumbledore to come to the school so draco can kill him. malfoy got the death eaters to come into the school so they can help him make sure he kills dumbledore.

Ok... so the Dark Mark was over the school to lure Dumbledore.
Malfoy was fixing the cupboard because with that he could get the Death Eaters in to kill Dumbledore.
yes they were there to complete the job when Draco failed.
