I know alot of people don't like them but I worked for them in NY & they were great even kept me from having an operation. I'm in Fla now & went to a new one, he was very nice. I had fallen last Dec & had lower back pain on right side going to groin & down right leg that was bad. He put me on a machine & then had me stand up straight on a table & took my leg bent it over & pressed down real fast w/all his weight (I'm thin) it hurt like hell but I figured (no pain no gain)
Well that was thurs & here it is Sunday & I'm in really bad pain in hip area, it was going up to rib area too but that areas ok now. The ones in NY would not work on you without xrays, down here they all do without them. I'm gonna call him when holiday is over I feel I need an MRI .

Hi Gram4,

Is it a possibility that there is an injury in your sacral/lurabar area from that fall? A problem like this can cause pain that radiates around to the front and in hip area, leg pain/nurabness, and hard to deal with bowel and urinary changes. It's a really good idea to get an MRI of this area like you are planning, to see if there are any disc or vertabrea not where they should be, in addition to the problems with your leg.

I have dished up alot of flack regarding chiros. I went to them fairly frequently for over 30 years and seemed to find relief until some underlying problems (and a car accident) became apparent; I think some can reach a point where the treatment is not effective for various reasons like arthritis setting in and creating blockages around nerves, for example, and the chiro adjustments can increase inflammation/pain to oversensitive areas. If there are some unknown, underlying conditions of a vascular nature, yes, injury can result and I agree with you that a person should make sure they don't have any serious conditions before they proceed. Even though you are comfortable with chiros because of your background, there might be changes because of that fall, requiring different treatment for a time.

I really hope that I haven't said anything to offend you here, as it would be unkind to run down a therapy that works for many people who are essentially healthy and are having success with chiro's.

I hope you find out what is going on and get some relief, I know what a pain this can be,

You did not offend me at all, I'm in Fla 17yrs now & have never liked the idea that most of them don't take xrays before they work on you as they did in NY where I worked, they NEVER would treat anyone without them. Also I think you're right on track w/what you sd about the injury, I fell on right side of butt real hard then it went around to groin & down the leg, lasting a long time now. I even told him that it has affected my BM's & that I have trouble going, he seemed surprised. I seem to remeraber urinating alot at one time too awhile ago but the BM thing still hasn't stopped. I just couldn't believe that he pulled my leg over & came down on me full force w/all his body weight, took the breath out of me it was so bad. I'll let you know thanks for taking an interest.

Well the Chiro seems to be doing the right thing since he hurt me. He sent for for an xray & it showed degenerative disc L5S1 & L2-L3-L4 (the last ones he's concerned about so he's sending me for an MRI tommorrow & then poss a nureo he sd is good. He would also like to try acupuncture after he gets the results. Just wanted to let you know, you were so nice to take the time to write.
