What's so great about Vista?

Does it really improve on gaming?

Why are they incorporating XBL into Vista when everyone knows keyboard + mouse > controller.

Why are there retarded faggots still posting about the PS3/wii hotness when its clearly not the hotness now?

The end.

dx10 is the future of gaming

vista is the only dx10 OS

keybaord and controller are only good for FPS. Consoles do EVERYTHING better. Not to mention MS is surely gonna try and make xbl and vista work together, they both bring in lots of money.

It's all I can do to keep myself from upgrading the comp and installing vista. All day long I have to tell myself that I don't need this yet, and I don't play games on the comp anymore anyways.
(deep breath)
vista is not needed, vista is not needed, vista is not needed
(exhale slowly)

Damn the Hotness!!

On many systems there is actually a performance hit to games on a Vista machine. There is nothing in Vista that makes games run any better. It's true that future games will require DX10, but requiring an upgrade to Vista just to use DX10 is not an "improvement" but Microsoft's cornholingso you'll buy their shitty OS.

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll come out with a DX10 wrapper for XP.

That's completely wrong. Vista handles memory much better and if you have 3GB RAM in XP and 3GB RAM in Vista you'll find Vista is way faster and more responsive. Also, once nVidia and ATI get some real drivers out instead of this transitionary crap, gaming performance will be better on Vista since there is less overhead. Infact, in some games already, that use Direct3D and run on ATI cards run faster in Vista, I think Oblivion was in this category. OpenGL support is absolute garbage at the moment so don't bother playing OpenGL games (Doom3/Quake4).

Obviously with a crap PC Vista won't offer performance enchancements, only slowdowns, but if you have a pretty high end gaming rig, Vista will be faster than XP in the near future, and already is in many ways.

There is NOTHING hot about Vista. There's no "got to have" features, and DX10 does not qualify as one.

DX10 = Microsoft's lock-in strategy for console gaming and PC gaming. Fuck them.
