in order to lose 20lbs in a month, how often should u go to the gym on average?

i'm currently trying to lose about 35 lbs. i weigh 160 and am trying to get back down to my old weight of 125. i am going to the gym once, every morning. i do about 20mins of cardio, and 10-15mins of sit-ups, and other workouts to help my mid section. So does anybody have any helpful tips. If so can u be specific on types of food to eat, workouts, and any other helpful info. Thanks
