In NSW, Australia, Leaving Home.?

I heard that once you are 16, say you wanted to live with a friend and their family, and you leave home to live there. Even if your parents ask the police to bring you home, they can't unless i'm in danger. Is this true?
 
yes thats true in QLD, not sure about NSW but id think so lol.
im not sure about if your parents as kthe police to bring you home, i think you would have to take it to court because they still have custody of you until you are eighteen.
but if you parents are abusive or anything then i dont think they could bring you back home.
