In high school, if you take a course twice, does the better mark replace the old one?

Say for example, you took grade 12 math once already and got 80%, and you take it again for the second time and you get 90%, then is your mark on the transcript the higher mark (90 percent) or the average of the two (85 percent)? Do universities look at both marks or just the better of the two?
