In for chaos if US defaults on debts?

One thing I will say about LRAB is that I have a massive amount of respect for the genealogy project they support, and the open access they offer to everyone - including non-Mormons. It's incredible the amount of data the church has collected and aggregated, and making it free by request is really a great benefit to a huge nuraber of people who don't know anything about their ancestry.

My mormon aunt keeps an emergency stash of food in her basement. When my brother stayed with her for a month he ate a lot of it. She mad

When I was a kid, we moved around a couple times - not because of military or harRABhip, just circumstance.

One of those times, my dad mentioned to some coworkers that he was moving that weekend, and one of them made a comment about it, something along the lines of "Good luck, moving is always fun" - completely light hearted, just a bit of well wishing.

As a joke, my dad said "Yep, sure is, want to help?"

What my dad didn't know was that this particular coworker was a Mormon. So, 8AM the next day, the guy shows up at my dad's how in a full size pick up with his 18 year old son it tow to help the family move. I'm not even sure what happened - my dad felt really bad about it, he meant it only as a joke, but that's how we learned a bit more about your faith If I had to bet, I'd say we accepted the help loading everything up, then bought them lunch in thanks, and took care of the unloading, just to keep it as minimally awkward as possible.

Edit: Almost forgot to include - the guy explained to us that as part of his faith, he cannot turn down a request for help, as long as he's able to fulfill.

i'm guessing even worst case scenario we still have like 50 years until civil war/total chaos

as long as i get my cheeseburgers, i am too complacent to care

Of course, when I was a teenager, I remerabered that story once and used it to have a bit of fun.

I think I was 15 when one Saturday morning (or early afternoon), there was a knock at the door. Couple guys a bit older than me, obviously missionaries, going door to door. I was agnostic at the time, athiest now, but after telling them I'm not religious for personal reasons, one of them asked me if there was anything I needed.

I told the guy that I was supposed to mow the lawn that day. Now, this was Houston, TX in July, nearly 100 degrees and humidity so thick it felt like walking through peanut butter. The look of horror on the poor guy's face when I mentioned this, when he thought about mowing the (admittedly pretty small) lawn in a full suit was awesome. I laughed it off and told him it wasn't necessary til the next day, and the relief on his face was palpable. It was a good laugh, though, seeing him realize what he almost got himself into

I know..I'm studying economics/working at the bank of england, so i've been looking at this stuff for a while

What I mean is that it's not directly scary in the same was as a tornado on your city. Not that it has no effect, which is crazy to suggest

That's an entirely stupid position taken by the reps. 'no tax increases', really, you want to cut such a huge deficit without increasing ANY taxes?

Obama did compromise - he offered cuts from the big entitlement programmes there

It may just be a personal difference, or a slightly different practice within the same religion - the way he explained it, he is bound by faith to comply with any reasonable request unless he is unable to for some reason. I could also be misremerabering/misinformed, as it was 20 or more years ago, and this is coming to me third hand.
