In fond memory of

never was on Oink but credit to them...they were absolutely massive

can't say I miss the site though...there are more than ample replacements now

It's all a matter of taste !! Nothing more, you like it or you don't !!
And i dunno why people want to compare Oink with Waffles or What....It's not the same story, things evolved so quickly in the BT.

I feel sorry for the guys nabbed though. Any idea what happened to him finally?

They just keep putting it off because they have nothing.

"The conspiracy to defraud case against Alan Ellis has been adjourned until 25 September 2009 at Teesside Crown Court. The trial is currently set to commence on 4 January 2010."

from http://oink.me.uk/

It was a great tracker, only had the chance to be there a few months before it went down. what/waffles has filled the void nicely though.

Was good while it lasted but it's time to move on. The site seems to have more hype in death than it did alive. Progress has been made, let's roll with it.

Wow, all the hostility in this thread just because someone wanted to commemorate what really was a pioneering site. I know the reason I got into torrents is because I read about Oink in a magazine and it got me curious. But honestly guys why not let people pay their respects? What's wrong with that? The sniping I see in this thread and in others around here lately has just completely turned me off this forum, and the people who are instigating it. I used to enjoy reading this section even the flame battles but lately it seems as if it's been taken over by little children that are just bickering for the sake of it. I'm sure I'll get flamed by someone for this post but I really don't care. Wake up to yourselves, you may think it's funny to act like an arsehole but it's just sad.

It was just a site, a torrent site.
And it's demise helped create 2 much better ones. It served its purpose.

No it was not just a torrent site and your attitude sucks towards one of the sites that has brought us to where we are today. It was all we had in the day. Nothing compared to it. Maybe you and skiz had issues with oink but thats no way to show your appreciation for the peeps that are still fighting for their lives.

It was an incredibly over-moderated tracker that has been replaced by trackers like "What", which offer better selection, more torrents, better UI, and reasonable staffers.

I say good riddance.

This is a forum for discussion and in a discussion many things can transpire whether it be for the good or not. I feel sad for you in your recent opinion of fst and wish you all the best at finding a happier place to be at. Maybe these types of forums are not for you anymore and it is best to leave.:yup:

Pleasant memories. I won't forget it.

I was an active member in oink but found its replacements just as nice. I'm just a pirate and as long as I get my music I'm just as happy. Where is all the rememberanances for napster, original winmx, kazaa before the crap it is today, bb that started it all, dcc, ftp dumps. What about the general disrespect for soul seek and edonkey. It all had its place in history and the evolution. Oink wasn't the first and won't be the last. Move with the time and enjoy it. Files will always be there to be had but to long after a dead site is pathetic. Forget it and move on.
agreed.

How is the userbase of filelist like Oink? Not really getting the comparison. Im not a member of the place but a few friends who are there tell me its kind of small and quiet. Not the same as it used to be a long time ago.

Ppl are very attached to them. ANd they dont just leave, they come everyday to see if its back on again, and make foruns will the site is down, so they can all be in touch whit etch other.
