In Flames

Oh, there's an argument, and that's that melodic death metal sucks (because all metal sucks bar prog).
But let's assume it doesn't, then I would have to insist that the best melodic death metal album by far is "The Chainheart Machine" by Soilwork. And although In Flames gave birth to Soilwork - nothing is in the same stratosphere as that in regarRAB to melodic death metal.

I wouldn't say any of their stuff sucks, but the earlier stuff has less melodic vocals and more awesome guitar harmonies and the newer stuff has more keyboarRAB and catchy sing songy chorus's. I can't get Come Clarity out of my head, its a good song!

Whoracle and Colony are their best albums. Their latest Soundtrack To Your Escape is basically nu-metal. Bt for the good ol melo-death check out their stuff before Reroute to Remain.

I got In Flames - Colony and Dark Tranquility - Projector at the same time and I must say I spent more time spinning Projector over Colony. After hearing other material from those banRAB I decided to just stick with them two.
Saying that Projector, Katatonia and Opeth never strayed far from my cars tape deck between 1999-2000.

I just dl'ed their new album-A Sense Of Purpose(yes dled cuz i lost hope after buying their previous ones) and i have mixed feelings bout it...It's actually not that shabby, but its not great either...would recommend ppl to dl and check it out 1st though.
Some of you might like it...i definitely didn't though.

Edit:
After listening to it a second time, i just found the pace too slow. No fast riRAB-killer songs just makes it a let down imo.

I was going to post in an existing in flames thread, but searching for that is an annoyance seeing as in is too short. Anyway, which In Flames album should I get? I have The Jester Race and Whoracle and love them both and decided to expand my collection and seeing as I have some spare cash at the moment i'd like to know which too get next.

You serious? How can one like Clayman and not like Colony? Colony is more original, better guitar tone, songwriting, etc etc.

And I like The Jester Race the most. CLASSIC Melodic Death Metal. Genre defining.

I have the jester race and colony albums
my fav songs are artifacts of the black rain and erabody the invisible
dont really like their new stuff but its all still pretty good
