So explain the episode Father's Day to me, please! This is the episode when he takes Rose back in time to see her father on the day he dies. I adore the show, but this is the one blaring continuity problem I can't let go of. The show usually does a good job of explaining away all my confusion in a way that makes good enough TV sense, but this issue still stands! The doctor says several times in several different episodes (I believe in episodes both before and after this one) that he can't go back in his own/someone's personal timeline, and yet that is exactly what this entire episode is based on! I love the show and this episode in particular but I would just like to understand how this can happen. I'm only looking for an explanation that is plausible within the Doctor Who universe - it doesn't have to make actual scientific sense. And for any crazed Whovians out there, I admit I have not YET seen any episodes pre- Christopher Eccleston so I'm sorry if I'm asking an uneducated question. I only wish to be enlightened.
