I own an Olympus E-520 DSLR camera. There is an xD picture card slot and a compact flash card slot. What is the purpose of the compact flash card and will it give me more photos or better photos and am I better off just getting another xD card with more space? I need to know quickly because a friend would like me to take photographs at her daughters party Saturday because she doesn't have alot of trust in the photographer.

That is just another type of memory card you can use.
The xD card is much smaller, but I've only seen up to 2 gigabytes of memory in it.

The CF card is bigger, thicker, I've seen CF card up to 16 gigabytes of memory in it.

So, yes more photos. It's only for storage, it wont make photos better.
