In California. lawyer forgot to pay his clietn's medical bills--his client was...

...reported to credit Bureaus? The client's auto insurance had paid the lawyer an x amount of money to cover an exact bill before it goes into collecetion. The lawyer kept the money in the trust for 9 months, until the client discovered that the collection agency has reported the credit bureau.
The cleitn called the lawyer, and the lawyer said that he forgot the money in the trust.

what is that called? any suggestion on what to do?
should not the lawyer be responsible for neglecting this matter. he got the money, he should have paid the medical bill.

Incompetance. The client needs to file a letter with the credit bureau detailing the specifics of the problem. It won't erase the collection, but it will give potential creditors a reason for a lower socre.
