In Buddhism, What exactly is Enlightenment AND how did Buddha achieve this just

by meditating under a tree? Ive read alot of books. But they dont actually give real answers, they jump from the buddha set out to end suffering...to he became fully enlightenment..

But the buddha originally set out to end suffering, so what did he come up with??????????
