In Bruges....

I wasn't interested in this film in the slightest when it first came out even though it was getting fantastic reviews. It really wasn't my cup of tea.

I gave it the benefit of the doubt and it turned out to be a cracking film! Brilliantly acted, great direction and some very funny scenes.

It's actually really good and not as bad as you think it might be (because it's not!). I was pleasantly surprised and would certainly recommend it!

Actually the feeling i had about this film is the same feeling i'm getting about Wall-E. I know it's a great movie, but it's just not something i would generally go see even if it is Pixar, etc.

He was good in that film Intermission,

I loved this as many said here how it was shot -film wise an dialogue , the ending had me tearful , highly recommend it
 
I saw this on DVD last night and I just adored it. The movie manages to combine some truly laugh out loud one liners with a story that does indeed contain much humour but is also very tragic and moving. I have always had a wee soft spot for Colin Farrell (must be the oul Castleknock accent:)) even though he has stared in some seriously shit movies!! I think both him and Brendan Gleeson excelled themselves on this one though, they make a fantastic comedy duo.

The excellently funny one liners were rolling of the screen thick and fast, one of my favourite was when Ken wanted Ray to go see the view and he said -

I think the writer wrote a screenplay that is Genuine, :)

Yes its "not nice,pc " at times in the film but as real life so is that
its very Good !
 
The depth of the charators was good , when they sat on the swings as Farrell poured his sad lil pathetic heart out ...that is brilliant actors an script
 
Was recommended the film by a mate and watched it having no idea what it was going to be about...thought it was a fantastic film. Not a comedy film in the traditional sense but had more laugh out loud moments than a lot of comedies.

Probably one of the many un-PC moments, but I was in stitches when Colin Farrell karate-chopped the dwarf! :D
 
Yeah I also think the fact that the two main characters didn't have to fake American accents helped greatly enhance the realisim. IMHO when an actor has to ham on an accent it tenRAB to be a huge distraction, espically if its a bit shit - Brad Pitt in Devil's Own - he was supposed to be from Cookstown - are ye kidding me, he sounded about as Norn Iron as Bart Simpson!!!!
 
Watched this last night on the FilmFlex thing. We don't usually use it, but as we were at a loose end last night we thought why not? The post office has lost our Amicus box set that we ordered, so it's their fault. :D

Marvellous movie. I wasn't sure what to expect, and after a pretty jovial start thought we were in for a comedy buddy movie. I guess that's kind of what it is at the beginning, but with much more depth to the characters than you would usually get in such a thing. How they managed to successfully turn it into such a beautiful tragedy is commendable to the cast, the director and the writer. Very few such comedies can do that so successfully and naturally.

I have to say too, that it really leaves a lasting impression on you. I don't know if anyone else felt the same as me, but the death of Brendan Gleeson's character is perhaps singularly the most distressing and upsetting screen death I have ever seen in my entire life.
 
Agreed on all your points. Can't think of anything to add really that hasn't been said before. I just hope that word gets around and more people rent or buy the DVD and appreciate what an excellent film this is.
