...ball falls out. What's the ruling? Some friends of mine are currently in a dispute about a throw in a beer pong match. Player 1 throws the ball, which lands in the backmost cup, knocking it back enough that it slides off the table. Player 2 of the other team catches the cup as it is falling, and the ball, which had been spinning around the inside, comes out. The ball did not touch the beer. A small amount of the beer splashed out of the cup during the catch. Is this a missed throw, or did the defending player commit a foul, and if so, how should play proceed?
